Pebble Index 01

It arrived!!!!!!

Actually it arrived on August 13th in Madrid, but I was in the north of Spain so had to wait until we came back to Madrid to pick it up in our mailbox and unpack it:

So, I suppose about now you are thinking that is great, but what the heck is that thing? Well it is Eric Migicovsky‘s latest hardware gadget: the Pebble Index 01 which he calls an “external memory for your brain”. It is a ring that you wear on your index finger and has a single button that when pressed and spoken into captures the thought and transcribes it to your phone.

When it was announced on December 9th 2025 I read the post and was not too interested, but then I watched the linked video, and before I had even finished the video I had placed an order. ¿Why you ask? Friction. and the removal of friction. I can take notes on my phone, but 9 times out of 10 once I have pulled the phone out of my pocket, unlocked it, gotten distracted by some notification on the phone, I have already forgotten what I want to take a note about. With the Index 01 it is just a click, speak into the ring (a bit like Knight Rider) and the note is saved! And as an added bonus it can also pause / play any audio from your phone, ask it to do a search and display the results on your Pebble Watch, and integrate with your own systems!

Connecting to the Index 01 via the Pebble App was straight forwarded and gave me an overview of what to expect:

And then we got to the actual configuration:

all this can be changed later so I was just in a rush to get it configured and begin playing with it!

And it did not disappoint! Speak into it and the thought is saved! I have only played a bit, and will continue to experiment and update with impressions after a bit of time with it!

Thoughts after first few hours:

  • The sizing is perfect! (when confirming the shipping address they had indicated that there were reports that the actual rings ran a bit smaller than the sizing kit so they recomended to bump up one size. After testing the kit again, I decided with much fear to stick with the same size and it is a perfect fit. Phew!)
  • I think this is the nerdiest thing I have had on my body since I used to wear my Nokia 6110 on a belt holster
  • Adding notes is super easy (still need to figure out how to get them from my phone to computer easily)
  • Tested pausing a podcast that was playing on my phone and worked, but took a bit of time. will need to test more.
  • Tested looking something up and it worked super fast!
