
Not so sure the fall edition of this field notes will have as many flowers to reference as the spring edition, but read on to see if I discover more than one!
Colchicum montanum
- EN: mountain meadow saffron or mountain autumn crocus
- ES: quitameriendas, merendera
- Notes: Blooms in late summer through autumn (September–October), just as most other flowers are fading. It often appears among dry grasses under pines (Pinus sylvestris) or in meadows near granite outcrops — a sure sign that autumn has arrived in the Sierra de Guadarrama.
